We have been riding the cycle of homeless sweeps and paying the SPD more for 5 years with no end on the horizon. It's time someone actually made the moves that needed to happen. We need a leader with a plan for the future that doesn’t involve letting problems fester.

It's time to get real funding for real problems, rather than spending less in the short term but more over the lifetime of the residents. Funding our city and its systems will pay dividends. Even more pressing, federal funding is being constantly threatened, and billions of dollars that we as a city assumed would make it to us may very well be cut. We can not be reliant on outside sources to enact meaningful change. Trump is a direct threat to our way of life, and we must be prepared for that fight.

The failure of the Democratic Party on the national stage is a canary in the coal mine. A purely centrist campaign, run on the back of empty platitudes and minimal progress is the quickest way to open yourself up to the real threat; apathy bringing about much more malicious actors. We have already seen it with the City Council, a true warrior in Tammy Morales was forced out by negative forces. We can’t allow this to continue. We have been caught in this belief for decades, and it's time we broke the cycle.
